Special Holiday Events on the Palmer Divide

Join the Palmer Lake Historical Society and the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts as they present Holiday events for the whole family that you won’t want to miss.

The special events start Saturday, December 12, 2009, when the Historic Society presents The Project Lighthouse 6th Annual Christmas Pow Wow. Join the Native American community in a celebration of Native American history, traditions, culture, song, and dance. Grand Entry is at 12:00 noon and 6:00PM. Special guest is Moses Brings Plenty, the former drummer of the popular Native American musical group, Brulé. This event is from 10:00AM to 10:00PM at Palmer Ridge High School, 19255 Monument Hill Road, in Monument.  Admission is free. Donations of new, unwrapped toys and gently used winter coats are appreciated. Visit www.ci.palmer-lake.co.us/plhs for more information.

The entertainment continues on Tuesday, December 15th, when the Historic Society and the Center for the Arts welcome two of Colorado’s premier artists, celebrated photographer John Fielder and singer/songwriter Chuck Pyle, for “A Colorado Evening” of Colorado photographs and song. John will preview his new book, “Ranches of Colorado,” while Chuck will sing songs from his newest CD, “HIGHER GROUND – Songs of Colorado,” which features “Little Town Tour,” “Moonlight on the Colorado,” and the new Colorado state song, John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High.” This is a great opportunity to pick up unique Holiday gifts for friends and family. Both artists will be available to personally sign their books and CDs. This event begins at 7:00PM (doors open at 6:00PM) at the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts, 304 Highway 105, Palmer Lake. Admission is $15.00. Visit www.trilakesarts.org or www.ci.palmer-lake.co.us/plhs for more information.

Finally, on Saturday, December 19th, the Center for the Arts presents a concert featuring “Acoustic Eidolon,” a musical group with a unique sound that led to the development of the guitjo, a 14 string instrument resembling a double-necked guitar. Acoustic Eidolon has enchanted audiences around the world with their acoustic music that blends Celtic, folk, and classical music. This event begins at 7:30PM (doors open at 7:00PM) at Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts, 304 Highway 105, Palmer Lake. Advance tickets are $12 for members/$15 for nonmembers ($15/$18 at the door). Visit www.trilakesarts.org for more information.
