I read your blog on TDA titled "African-American"? Excellant writing and your points are dead on. Maybe we could shorten it to Af-Am. Just two syllables there but it does not the same strength. Actually would sound more like clearing your throat. Perhaps a simple light, medium or dark American would suffice? We could go with medium roast, dark roast or Cafe' Special. I would probably be in the Cafe' Special group as most of us probably are. I have kinky hair according to my dark roast co-worker.

I liked you comments about Al and Jesse not being the black spokesperson. That has been a topic of mine for a while. I work with a dark roast and have been working with him for over 22 years and we have a lot of good discussions on this matter. I consider him to be my best friend and my point to him for the last year or so is the fact that Jesse and Al ARE the spokesperson for his race. Whether by choice or media controlled, blacks have allowed their voices to be spread through the mouth of Jesse and Al. Mouths that more than likely are filtered by a radical convertor inside their brain that takes a simple feeling and turns it into a news worthy headline grabbing comment. It is the people like yourself K-Matt, that will not allow others to speak for you that will make the changes we need in racial tensions. By you speaking your feelings directly and not through that radical convertor, the medium roast crowd will begin to understand the dark roast folks. It is time for the dark roast crowd to assume the position of being their own spokesperson. We are all in the same boat, Dark roasts from Africa and us Cafe' Specials from Nova Scotia. Both were forced from our homes and endeared very similar lifes. While we were not officially slaves, most were forced to be share croppers and work long hours in the fields. K-Matt and my co-worker have in many ways opened my eyes and made me realize that the black race is not entirely what we see on the news. Their views are NOT the same as Jesse and Al. There needs to be more K-Matts out there.

  • I tend to agree over the issue about Al and Jesse, as to me they do not fight for progress, but mainly for attention and to fatten their pockets. They claim to hate and fight racism, but have made a fortune using racism. Now don't think i'm saying that we live in a world where it doesn't exist, thats far from the truth, but remember that propaganda is just that, propaganda. Also I like the coffee analogy and offer an odd joke. Some men like their women like they like their coffee: dark and strong Some men like their women like they like their coffee: smooth and creamy Some men like their women like they like their coffee: milky and sweet ....and for the crazies Some men like their women like they like their coffee: ground up in a ziplock bag in the back of the freezer (and no, I'm not advocating violence towards women, its just a joke)
